Review:
Sit/Stand: Popping into the stand when I put my foot backwards. The nice sit is deteriorating though. Need separate sessions for cuing sit, and for making the right kind of sit.
Right Pivot is definitely coming along well. Working on fading the platform, I have to remember not to progress too fast – this is not a variation of Left heel in a different position; for him it’s an entirely new behaviour. He understands – but his precision sucks and sometimes stands on or over my foot.
Crate: Ham is better than shop treats. Did a good 20 sec + added some distractions, like me going out of the hall.
Lazy Leash: Step 1 needs more work; he is supposed to solve the problem of pressure on his collar – and he doesn’t really seem to see it as much of a problem. He catches on to the first parts of step 2 very quickly; if within arms radius of my left side, I say good, drop a treat and move away. He understands where the treats come from. Working a bit on actual walks too.
Come: Had a couple of nice ones outside in quiet areas; a good 15 meters, trailing leash.
Settle: Too restless to get a good one Sunday night. There is definitely a difference between ‘can do the exercise on a good day’, and ‘can do it consistently’. Wednesday morning, I let him go after 30 sec.
Tricks: Sit Pretty is hard work on a dog’s back – but he’s getting there! The jump is when I used a hand target instead of direct lure. Bow is beautiful for a toy reward, utterly confused for treats (lie down? Settle? Sit?). Patty-cake/ high five is better on my right side – he tends to jump up for the left one – but we can still start working on both paws at once. Leg weaves are coming along nicely – but somehow he goes all the way under my right leg, but always stops halfway under my left.
