Lots of walks and play with the ‘sitter. Splashing in the ditches – and sometimes breaking the ice to be able to splash. Fenris was excited to see him – but it was within manageable levels. He used his buttons to communicate – but there was also some barking earlier and earlier in the morning according to the unemployed ‘sitter, who wasn’t quite used to that, barking when he went into the shower (Fenris never bothers with that with us – probably more safe about us coming back), and a fair bit of whining.

CANIS
- We came home in time for a tiny bit of training outside on his night walk; offered sits during backwards walking.
Tricks
- Practiced Sit Pretty this morning. No duration yet, but exactly the posture and control I’ve been looking for. 5 beautiful reps.
- Jump over arm works only at very low heights – otherwise he thinks I’m pointing at the wall/barrier at the other side and tries pawing it. Confusing signals – and he definitely picks body cues over verbal cues.
Buttons
- Clicked Brush this morning – it might have been a mis-click for Out, but he was still eager and willing to jump on the handling area (a large chest) to get the brushing done.

Strength training – Backups on the stairs. 2×4 reps (1-2 steps each time). Confidence about what I’m asking of him.
Introduced a platform (though I’ll raise it a little – so far just a 2cm high plank). We did some tucked sits/ kick back stands just to familiarise ourselves with using it. I tried putting something under to make it wobble a little, but the bang on our stone tiles might have been too much for the time being. Will dampen with towels or something next time, I think.
Agility front cross – did a session of very calm luring / hand touches, to increase smoothness, in both directions/sides. It’s actually a way of getting the rally sign 318 (180 degree turn towards each other). A bit far down the line, maybe, but getting the fluency doesn’t hurt.
